our story
The greenhouse cafe is a family run business putting sustainability and ethics at the heart of everything we do.
We have come along way since we opened in November 2018 with a vision of bringing plant-based eating to our home town of Felixstowe, a town in need of a gentle nudge to more ethical eating.
We specialise in brunches, lunches and amazing bakes and we are proud to serve superior grade ‘crude’ coffee – ethically sourced and locally roasted.
With an aim to source as locally and/or ethically as possible, you’ll find plenty of other fantastic hot and cold drinks available, as well as an expanding retail selection of vegan goodies and cooking ingredients.
We have also collaborated with other local businesses and catered for office events and individual parties by supplying our delicious buffet items.

In our first year we placed as runners up in the 2019 Suffolk ‘Greenest County Award’ small business category, nominated for the EADT Food & Drink award and granted a gold award for ‘Eat Out Eat Well’ healthy eating in September 2019.

During Lockdown in 2020 and 2021 we refused to let Covid beat us so we decided to move our cafe online and started a weekly delivery service of Nossage, cakes, burgers and other treats to cheer folk up! These proved very popular and helped keep us busy and (more importantly) afloat financially !
We opened in the doorway as soon as we were allowed to for a weekly takeaway service and gradually moved back inside to (fairly) normal, socially distanced cafe life with an increased takeaway offering which is still in place today.
Alice, our creative chef used lockdown to increase her cooking skills and repertoire of delicious quiches, salads, special dishes and bakes as well as completing a Diploma in Vegan cooking – our menu now reflects her passion for all things tasty and plant-based. Plates are usually licked clean, and we have gained a great reputation for our amazing flavours and home produced food.
You can now also hear us on our lockdown Podcast, recorded in the winter of 2020 and cook along with Alice on our You Tube channel, extra activities that kept us busy while we were closed (see the ‘socials’ tab above)
We now find ourselves in our 5th year of trading and have adapted and grown as needed with the (unusual!) times. We think our food is even more delicious now than ever and we strive to find new ways to tempt you into the café to try new flavours and dishes!
Vegan and Plant-Based food has come a huge distance since we opened in November 2018 and we are proud to be part of it and continue to encourage everyone (be they vegan, veggie, or flexitarian) to be kind to every kind and help the planet at the same time, with good food, drink and a warm welcome!
